I'm really hungry today. I've been trying to drink my protein shakes, but I'm just sick of them. I'm sick of clear broth too. I really have a craving for creamy soup but I don't think I can "eat" anything until Sunday.
:( This is my pity party. I haven't really been hungry until today.

I know it is hard....Sunday will be here before you know it. It still amazes me how doctors have such different rules pre and post op. I was allowed any liquids after surgery...Keep strong!!
ReplyDeleteGo get thee some SF popsicles/fudgsicles...saved my bum...something to crunch on.
ReplyDeleteI gave you the Stiletto Award (today's blog).
If you have an unflavored protein powder I've found that adding that to chicken broth actually makes the broth creamy, tastes REALLY good, is surprisingly satisfying and really, actually, is something I find I WANT.
ReplyDeleteOne word of caution, though, is to heat the broth to just above warm (a good drinkable temp) but no hotter than 140. Then add the protein powder in slowly and stir while adding.
It is surprisingly creamy even though it's "unflavored".
I hope you have some on hand - it might make a world of difference for you!
Hang in there. Have you called your surgeon's office to see if maybe you can go ahead and advance? From what I've read, to be honest, seems like you might be fine with a strained creamy soup. Seems like it might be worth it to ask...
Hang in there. You are almost to the next stage!
You know, I think we all go through the place you are right now, and it sucks. But it won't last long...you are almost to a way way better place, honest! Chin up, young person!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, I was on full liquids from the beginning, one thing I did was have some beef broth with 3 teaspoons of mashed potatoe flakes, it was just enough to plump it up a little. Hang in there!
ReplyDeletethanks guys. I think I just needed to say it out loud. My husband gets it, but not like you guys!
ReplyDeleteI think you should eat something more substantial. Liquids suck!
ReplyDeleteAre you only on clear fluids or full fluids. Full fluids are anything that can be sucked up through a straw, and that includes creamy soups (but don't use a straw). I would die on just clear fluids which I only had to do for one day after surgery. How about a milkshake? Hope you get through this. It is designed not to stretch the new pouch. Be strong.
ReplyDeleteI agree on the sugar free popsicles. They were a lifesavor even when I was on full liquids. Another thing that my doc allowed while on clears was jello. It made me feel like I was eating something.
ReplyDeleteSugar free pudding would probably be ok. Or a creamy soup but just water it down a bit more would probably be fine as well.
ReplyDelete((hugs)) maybe you could call your dr's and see if you could do creamed soup/pudding.. those will at least get you through till sunday..
ReplyDeleteSunday is sooooo close.. You can do it.. ALso there is lots of info in the above comments.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel, I was banded on the 25th of March and am on liquids for 3 weeks, 1 week down and 2 to go. I'm really struggling with the protein shakes, my surgeons office told me to mix the shakes with a little water so its almost mousse like, i'm finding that it really helps and makes me feel like i'm having a treat.
ReplyDeletePopsicles sound good, I'll have to get some too.
I keep telling myself that this too shall pass.
